“Text Retriever” - text retrieval utility (Version 1.2)
______________________________________
Description: “Text Retriever” is a shareware program designed to retrieve text from damaged word processing files and orphan files (files whose applications are not available to the user). It can also be used to read text from a non-text file. It reads all the text from these files and saves the retrieved text in a file of type ‘TEXT’ format so that it can easily be read and manipulated by the user in basically any word processing application (even TeachText). Once you've rescued the text, there might be some characters you do not want that the creator of the document stored with the text. Just cut and paste the desired text into a separate document.
Instructions:Double-click the “Text Retriever” icon in Finder to launch the application. An “Open file dialog” will appear. Select the file from which you wish to retrieve text from and press the “open” button. Wait a few moments for the “Save dialog” to appear. When the “Save dialog” appears, type in the name with which you wish to save the retrieved text and the directory in which you wish to store it. After a few moments, a dialog will appear telling you the result of the operation. An error may appear or a message confirming the retrieval of the text. If an error occurs, no retrieving was performed and you should try again. You may have to relaunch the application.
